Making dinner is such an ordeal. Of all the meals made at home, dinner is the most stressful, cumbersome, and often unappreciated. As of late, dinner has been feeling rather energetic, creative, broadening my family’s palette and horizon of food choices. Our family is a huge fan of Asian food and I was craving something deep fat fried and covered in chocolate, but my will to eat healthy outweighed my darkest desire. These are necessary items for a well stocked pantry
All Purpose flour, salt, white sugar, brown sugar, baking soda, baking powder, Baking Cocoa (Natural Unsweetened),Crisco Sticks, Unsalted Butter, Vanilla Extract (not Imitation), and any other extract you might use, I keep Almond, Butter, Maple and Lemon Extracts on hand at all times (especially around Winter holidays) and yeast( I keep mine in the refrigerator)
Pasta, Rice ( I keep Jasmine and Brown Rice in my pantry), Instant Potatoes mix, Yellow RIce mix, Red Beans and Rice mix, Black Beans and Rice mix, Biscuit Mix, Bread Crumbs, Cornmeal, Cornstarch, nuts. oatmeal, dry beans and peas, Onion and Vegetable soup mixes, saltine crackers
Potatoes, Carrots, onions, mushrooms, garlic, peppers (any kind you like), lemons/limes, green onions, shallots
Herbs and Spices
Any kinds of spices you know you will use regularly you need to keep on hand at all times
Here’s my favorites ~ basil, bay leaves, bouillon, celery seed, chives, ground cinnamon, cumin, dill weed, garlic powder, onion powder, Italian Seasoning, Jane’s Krazy Mixed-Up Salt, ground mustard, nutmeg, oregano, parsley, black pepper, salt, thyme, tumeric, Cajun Seasoning, cayenne pepper, Crushed Red Pepper Flakes, Tuscany Blend Garlic Seasoning, Rosemary, Sage, Smoked Paprika, regular Paprika~
Oils and Vinegars
Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Vegetable Oil, Flavored Vinegars ( Balsamic, cider, red wine, and white vinegars)
Canned, Bottles,and Jars
Broths, fruit, green chiles, soup, pie filling, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, crushed tomatoes, tuna, vegetables, Spaghetti sauce, pizza sauce, salsa, pickles, pimentos, soy sauce, Worchestershire Sauce, Teriyaki Sauce, Peanut butter, jelly, Hot Sauce, Catsup, Mustard (Brown, Dijon, Yellow), Dukes Mayonnaise (or your favorite mayo), Chili Sauce, Tartar Sauce, Cocktail Sauce
Green Onions ~ when you get to the white part of a green onion place it in a cup with water and put in a sunny place and it will grow a new green onion part~ Keep doing this and you will never have to buy green onions again!
